Our Beliefs
Our Loving God created us. He has always loved His creation but we have often lived in rebellion.
Our Loving God has repeatedly called to His creation through passionate messengers. In these last days, He has called to us through His Son, Jesus.
Jesus loved us and appeared and lived among us. Jesus died on our behalf, He was buried, He arose from the dead in accordance with prophecy, He appeared to numerous witnesses, He has an ongoing work of grace. This is the essence of the Gospel according to passages such as 1 Corinthians 15, Philippians 2, 1 Timothy 3, and 1 Peter 2 and we believe this Gospel calls us to enact Christ in our daily lives. This enacting is called INCARNATIONAL LIVING.
•We believe the creator message makes sense because many believe that they make their own world and are entitled to anything they can get in it. With this attitude, there seems to be little reason to give gratitude to the maker in any tangible sense.
•We believe that the messages of today’s world constantly encourage the pursuit of pleasure. This message is damaging because that hunger can never be addressed in the means offered by this world. We believe that the message of a Savior who came from riches to humble circumstances and lived a life of sacrifice makes sense and offers a healthier alternative to the bombardment of our world’s messages about the selfish pursuit of pleasure.
•We believe that our world has placed too much confidence in its own abilities to bring improvement and understanding to challenges and problems that plague our world. We believe that the message of a God who can perform surprising miracles and who is not confined to the boundaries of science will be at the same time a stumbling block and a welcome relief.
•We believe that our world fears and loathes death. We believe that the fear of death is addressed in the message of a God who has overcome death. We believe that new hope is found in embracing this wonderful and powerful God.
•We believe that in a world anxious and sometimes fearful of old enemies and threats and potential dangers, that the message of a God who protects and sustains His people through every storm will bring peace and the opportunity for real and sustained joy.
•We believe that in a world that feels lonely, that the message of a God who is with us and in us will shine a light in the darkness and break through the despair.
•We believe that in a world that feels isolated, that the message of a God who calls his people into a marvelous community will offer lifegiving connections.
•We believe that in a world that is adrift, that the story of a long line of believers who failed and were flawed but did great things with the help of their mighty God will offer a tangible anchor to real people who faced and overcame obstacles like the ones faced everyday.
