DANNY DUGGAN TO SPEAK MAY 7
On Wednesday night, May 7, Danny Duggan, executive director of Cherokee Home for Children, will be our speaker. He will give a report on the work of Cherokee Home and will thank Westgate for helping support them for 46 years. Cherokee Home is celebrating their 50th anniversary. When they started, they were serving children of Mexican American descent, but later they began serving children of all races. Westgate has been assisting them all the time we have been in existence. For the first few years, we sponsored several of the children, giving them school supplies and clothes, and gifts for their birthdays and Christmas, and even having some of the children in our homes during the summer.

Update From Cherokee Home For Children
“April Showers bring May flowers, so they say. Traveling home recently from a trip I noticed the bluebonnets staring to come up along the road side. Growth of spring just reminds me of God’s great power to make changes happen. I thought about our kids. I see many of them bud and bloom. God is using you and your special gift to partner with our staff to see that this takes place. In watching our youth, blossoming sometimes seem slow—but it does come.
Because of your special support given on April 10 that we placed in the General Fund, we are able to give our children the special stroke of support and kindness that they all need”

For years now we have supported CHOA with our change cans, now we can support Abilene Christian Schools with the time it takes to cut out a box top. Selected General Mills products have on them a “Box Top for Education” coupon worth ten cents when turned in by a school. The elders have authorized the collection of these coupons for the purpose of supporting Christian Education in our community. If you are collecting these for your child’s or grandchild’s school, please don’t feel obligated to give these coupons to ACS, but if you are not collecting for anyone, consider doing so for this good cause. You may put your donations in the collection box next to the Sound Room door.
Thank You for all the "Box Tops" you have given. You have helped a worthwhile organization.
