Written on Our Hearts
Travel Mercies
Psalm 121 The message and scriptures emphasized will focus on God’s goodness. We will acknowledge that the good in life doesn’t come from our planning, money, or others but ultimately from God. This is a Psalm of Ascent (as is another one we will look at) so we will also look at this from the perspective of travel.
On Fear
Joshua 1: 7-9 We will look at two Scriptures where God tells his people to not be afraid because He is with us. We will explore our own fears and be encouraged to trust in God.
On Beauty
Proverbs 31: 25-31 A woman’s worth should not just come from her looks, despite what culture tells us. A woman’s value/worth should not be tied up in the approval of men. Men and women, need to communicate to women in their lives, through words and actions, that their worth is not tied up in looks.
On Anxiety
1 Peter 5: 5-7 Theme: We will explore the correlation between humility and anxiety. When we learn to humbly turn our control over to God, we can rest in his power and wisdom. Taking our burdens on alone, creates anxiety; God says we don’t have to do that. Link to full service
A Father’s Sacrifice
Matthew 1: 18-21 We will look at Joseph’s predicament with the news about Mary’s pregnancy during the betrothal period. We will see how as a father and man he is sacrificial, merciful, righteous, willing to adapt to the path God sets before him, and willing to take responsibility that may not feel like his…then we as Fathers will be both encouraged, and challenged to do the same Link to full service
On Sin
Romans 3: 21-24 We all sin, and this sermon will challenge us to self reflect on it. We will be challenged to look at our “acceptable sins” that we act like are no big deal, but really are damaging. We will also see how sin puts us all on the same playing field, but will never separate us from God’s love.
We will serve the Lord
Joshua 24: 13-15 We will explore Joshua’s speech after conquering Canaan. We will be challenged to evaluate what God has done, make the daily decision to choose him, and have the powerful reminder that God gives us choice, consequently we should be careful to not force God on people Link to full service
