The Power of Words

Proverbs 16: 21-28 We will establish how powerful our words can be, and thus how powerful we are. So, we will be encouraged to be careful with our speech and to speak blessings often.

Let the Children Come to Me

Matthew 19: 13-15 Jesus’s teachings placed children in a dignified place and led believers to care for the kids that no one else cared about. Caring for children and orphanages are powerful forms of missions.

Jesus Abiding in You

John 6: 48-58 As a charge for WATS, we will explore what it means to consume Jesus, to represent him, and to have him with us wherever we go.

Communion

1 Corinthians 11: 23-29 We will explore the meaning and history of communion.

Baptism

Romans 6: 1-7 We will explore the meaning of baptism, respond to common baptism questions/misconceptions, and hopefully prompt some no pressure conversation about baptism with parents and kids.

On Togetherness

Ecclesiastes 4: 8-12 The text starts with a sad story of a lonely isolated person who has chosen to pursue wealth, but realizes it doesn’t matter if there is no one to enjoy it with. The message will encourage us to connect, maintain relationships, and evaluate mindsets that are isolating us/making us lonely.  Love/relationships is what gives life meaning.

On Work

Hebrews 6: 10-12 This Sunday we will celebrate educators and give Bibles to our 1st graders. The theme will focus on working as for the Lord, and doing good even when it’s not as seen or as appreciated as we would like . We will also be encouraged to see and appreciate the good things we see people doing around us.

On Love

1 Corinthians 13: 1-7 We will unpack this passage about love in light of issues/divisions in Corinth. We will be challenged to be a church that is known for and defined by its love.   Link to full service

Travel Mercies

Psalm 121 The message and scriptures emphasized will focus on God’s goodness. We will acknowledge that the good in life doesn’t come from our planning, money, or others but ultimately from God. This is a Psalm of Ascent (as is another one we will look at) so we will also look at this from the perspective of travel.

On Fear

Joshua 1: 7-9 We will look at two Scriptures where God tells his people to not be afraid because He is with us. We will explore our own fears and be encouraged to trust in God.

On Suffering

James 1: 2-4 Love disciplines, to make people better, and it may not always feel like love. In the same way parents discipline children to make them better, God does us. God can use suffering to shape us, and sometimes it is helpful to think of us as sharing in the suffering of Christ. Link to full service
